Dr. Monteros was born in Guatemala City. She has identified QTLs and molecular markers to improve the fatty acid profile in soybean oil, increased seed yields under drought conditions, and enabled integration of a novel Asian soybean rust resistance gene. In 2007, she joined the Noble Foundation as an Assistant Professor where she currently works on forage legume breeding, genetics, and genomics.
