Research Areas: Crop quantitative genetics & genomics; crop-microbiome interactions
Jason Wallace's research focuses on using quantitative genetics, genomics, statistics, and bioinformatics to improve crops. The lab is strongly computational, and past work includes population genetics, genome-wide marker development, trait mapping, and genome assembly in both major and minor crops. Dr. Wallace is also interested in understanding the relationship between crop plants and their microbiome (the collection of all microbes living on and inside the plant), and how we can manipulate either or both sides to improve agriculture.
